General Data Protection Regulations Statement
Under the General Data Protection Regulations (2018), you have certain rights. These include:
​
§ You are allowed to see your notes. This is facilitated by making a formal written request.
​
§ In line with guidance provided by the British Psychological Society (BPS) all adult clients records are kept for 7 years after the conclusion of therapy and are then securely destroyed.
​
§ You may have your records amended (e.g. change of name and address).
​
§ Under GDPR, you can request for your data to be erased. However there are exceptions to this (please see point below).
​
§ In the case of therapy records, insurance companies and ethical bodies require records to be available for the period of time outlined above.
Clients are asked to sign a contract agreeing to your records being kept for 7 years after the termination of therapy.
